November Progress at The GND REC
The GND Development Alliance has created a website to communicate progress on the Gary New Duluth Community Center and Recreation Area. Along with the website we have also developed a new Newsletter that will take place of all previous correspondence.
The website provides the capability to accept cash contributions to the project. Additionally, individuals, companies and organizations can pledge materials and in-kind services. All are needed to ensure success. You will notice on the website that different levels of contribution are recognized on the site.
ALL CONTRIBUTIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE AS THE GND DEVELOPMENT ALLIANCE IS A 501 (c) (3) NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION.
As you have seen in previous correspondence we have christened the site as The GND REC with its own distinctive logo. The website and newsletter is focused on the project and progress with the project. As the capital improvements are completed and The GND REC becomes functional, we anticipate that the website will be transformed into a community communications site, promoting activities and items of interest in Gary New Duluth and throughout the St. Louis River Corridor.
Progress on the project continues with the following being accomplished / addressed:
- The GND Development Alliance has a signed agreement with the City to make the capital improvements to the site and operate it upon completion.
- A 551 foot six inch water line with hydrant has been installed from the intersection of Stowe Street and 101st Ave. West. The project was completed with funds raised by the GND Development Alliance and substantial support by Hanco Utilities who bored and installed the water pipe / hydrant, Veit Specialty Contracting who provided excavating, and the City of Duluth who did the engineering drawings, did the tie in to the 6 inch main and provided the hydrant. On Wednesday December 3rd, the water line was installed into the building by Hanco Utilities. Now that the water line is completed, the rest of the project can move forward! Thank you all for your support!
- Construction drawings were completed for the “shack” by WagnerZuan Architecture and a building permit was secured. Thank you for your support.
We need a wide variety of materials, services and construction skills to ensure success of our project.
You can contribute via the web site, much is needed. Thank you in advance for your support.
