April Progress at the GND REC

The annual Parks and Recreation meeting was held at the lower Spirit Mountain chalet on Wednesday, 15 April.  The intent of the meeting was to provide information and generate enthusiasm for the St. Louis Corridor vision and projects. The GND REC was prominently featured. What is really exciting is that we have met the City’s requirement to release $500,000 in matching funds to our project! We are working closely with the City to understand and establish the protocol to receive the funds.

On Sunday, 12 April 2015, we had a group of volunteers assembled to take down the soccer field fence at the base of Spirit Mountain and move it to GND REC. The fence along with the fence from the GND baseball field will be reused on our site for the soccer fields. Thank you Arrowhead Youth Soccer Association for donating the fence!

Volunteers included:  Aaron Hinnenkamp, Jan Hinnenkamp*, Terry Hinnenkamp, Bryan Hinnenkamp, Cainan Brown, Brenda and Bob Fife, Sherri Puckett, Chris Olek, Cliff Krueger, Rene DeBair*, Kim Eskola*, Reggie Postal Jr., Randy Metcalfe, Mark Rubin, Will Buchin*

The metal pass through roll up door has been installed.  All windows and the pass through have been trimmed out. Thank you Jim, Jim, Kevin and Mike!

We have installed cable for internet / wifi, telephone and television in the building.  We will have computers available for use.  We are getting close to having a true community center!
