February Progress at the GND REC
Painting the interior of the recreation building aka “the shack” is nearly complete. Jon Anderson and members of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Barry Ives and Chris Ghekiere, are working hard to freshen up the interior. It looks great! Thank you for all of your hard work! Plumbing work continues as does the installation of indoor lighting and electrical fixtures. Because of amazing people like these guys, “the shack” is starting to look as amazing as it once was.
Special thanks to the Duluth Public Schools ISD 709 and specifically Kerry Lieder and his team for their contribution to our project. Numerous, needed surplus items including but not limited to; plumbing fixtures, cabinets and furniture were donated for the building remodel.
Please don’t forget that we will be having a fundraising dinner at the American Legion in West Duluth on 13 March from 4 to 7 pm. Music will be provided by Mark Rubin and Family. The poster advertising for our dinner was created by Graphic Artist, Kayla Petrich, a 2008 graduate of Denfeld High School Part of her design was used in the creation of the billboard advertising the event. Also, Jack Rendulich a 1971 graduate of Morgan Park High School, took the photo of Mark and Nancy Rubin that is on the billboard! We hope to see you there and please bring a friend or two!
