Work at THE GND REC (“the shack”) continues. After a busy holiday season volunteers are back at work remodeling the existing structure. This month we focused on the electrical inside the building, making sure that all electrical lines and outlets are up to code and functioning properly. We greatly appreciate the contributions of Duluth Electrical Contracting and the IBEW members both current and retired who are doing the work and providing materials.  Thank you for your support!

We are pleased to announce that A.W. Kuettel & Sons has pledged to provide and install a new HVAC unit for THE GND REC.  Thank you for your support! This generous donation will go a long way towards keeping everyone who uses the new facility comfortable no matter what time of year it is! Thank you A.W. Kuettel & Sons for your support! 

Remodeling a building cannot be complete without paint, lots and lots of paint. The good folks at Andren’s Paint Company have pledged to provide all the paint for the building interior. Now that we have paint, we will surely be looking for volunteers to help actually paint “the shack”. When we are at this stage, we will make an announcement on our Facebook page, webpage, as well as our newsletter.

Our project depends on volunteers and in-kind contributions. We would like to recognize a group of volunteers that have done the demolition work inside the building and are currently installing new sheet rock. Without their hard work (this work has literally been back breaking), the project would not be as far as it is today. We appreciate their support!
